This 2024 kitchen remodel was one of my first larger projects, designed for a woman aging in place in her Milwaukee bungalow with her cat. I leaned intentionally into the home’s Craftsman character, honoring its original bones with simple, elegant forms and a cozy, lived‑in warmth. Because aging‑in‑place was central to the project, I incorporated ergonomic features and accessible appliances, including an induction cooktop for safety and ease of use. The overall palette and material choices were kept understated and timeless, allowing the space to feel both refreshed and deeply connected to the home’s history. The result is a kitchen that supports comfort, independence, and everyday joy — for both the homeowner and her cat.

Looking back, this project represents an important milestone in my early design journey. It shows how much I’ve grown since then, but I still appreciate the care, intention, and hard work I poured into it. The finished kitchen feels warm, functional, and true to the Craftsman spirit of the home, while also supporting the client’s long‑term comfort through thoughtful ergonomic choices. Even as my skills have evolved, this remodel remains a project I’m proud of — a simple, elegant, and cozy space that reflects both my early design instincts and the foundation they helped me build.
