This conceptual bathroom remodel was developed as part of a case study assignment, in which students were asked to reinterpret a space based on a selected piece of artwork. I chose The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli, using its ethereal elegance and classical beauty as the foundation for a spa-like luxury bathroom.
The design draws heavily from the painting’s soft, romantic palette: incorporating muted blush tones, sage hues, and warm neutrals to evoke serenity and grace. Gold accents are used throughout to reflect the opulence and divine quality of the artwork, appearing in fixtures, hardware, and decorative detailing.
Curvature plays a central role in the spatial composition, with arched mirrors, rounded décor, and flowing architectural contours that echo the organic movement of the painting and enhance its feminine energy. Material selections were guided by a desire to balance visual softness with tactile richness, creating a space that feels both indulgent and restorative.
This project demonstrates my ability to translate artistic inspiration into spatial design, while thoughtfully considering mood, materiality, and user experience. It reflects my growing skills in conceptual development, spatial planning, and visual storytelling — and my commitment to designing environments that support human wellbeing and emotional connection.

This project offered a chance to translate fine art inspiration into spatial design. Drawing from The Birth of Venus, I focused on creating a bathroom environment that feels serene, sculptural, and emotionally resonant.
The final concept features a spa-like retreat that feels both timeless and emotionally resonant. Large windows flood the space with natural light, enhancing the ethereal atmosphere and drawing attention to the delicate interplay of color and form. The palette includes blushes, soft greens, and warm neutrals that mimic the natural beauty found in The Birth of Venus. Gentle curves throughout the space — from the sculpted platform beneath the tub to the pearl-toned, scalloped backsplash — are designed to evoke a sense of divine femininity and calm upon entry. These elements work together to evoke softness and movement, echoing the painting’s graceful energy without directly replicating it.
Beyond aesthetics, the process helped me refine my approach to spatial rhythm, material harmony, and digital modeling. It also deepened my interest in designing spaces that support wellbeing through both form and feeling.
